Holiday Club 2019 is “Backpackers”

We’re excited to announce that the 2019 Holiday Club will be called ‘Backpackers’.

With a travel theme, there’s plenty of exploring, fun and games, making, songs, drama and more, as the children journey through European cities.

At Backpackers, children will travel with Jesus as he arrives in Jerusalem and explore the events of his last week on earth through the awesome accounts from the Gospel of Matthew.  There’ll be the normal mixture of Fun, Games, Craft, Bible Stories and Songs, plus the chance to perform Drama and Song.

Backpackers will take place from Monday 12th August to Friday 16th, from 10am to 12noon.  These is also an opening ‘preview’ service for all the family on Sunday 11th August at 10:30am.

The cost is £10 for the week, this is to cover refreshments and materials (a reduction to £5 for additional children in the same family).

Parish Service Changes

At the Annual Parochial Church Meeting on 7th April 2019, the following statement about Cornwell Community Church was made:

The Cornwell Leadership Team have decided that to further the mission of the church, we should join with Gill in an exciting new venture in the St Catherine’s building. Initially this will take the form of a Cornwell style service and will incorporate ‘All Stars Family Service’, and Sunday school.

We have always said that a church is not a building but people, so whilst Cornwell Community Church as a separate church would cease, as a congregation we would continue to meet together as part of that new venture.

Discussions are being held regarding how and when that might take place. As soon as decisions are made as to the way forward, they will be communicated to both churches.

Rev Gill Rowell, Tony & Evelyn Bartlett, Emma Deacon, Caroline O’Sullivan, Val & Stuart Poore, Jane Stokes.

23 March 2019

It has subsequently been decided that this new service will take place at 11.00 am , starting on Pentecost Sunday – 9th June.

In order to facilitate this new service, the St Catherine’s 9.30 am service will move 15 minutes earlier and start at 9.15 am.  This time change will begin on on 19th May.

Further details will be provided when available.

Messy Church – Saturday 6th April : Easter

The Easter School holidays are about to start.  But what is Easter all about?

We know it’s more than just chocolate and bunnies, but why do Christians consider Easter far more important than Christmas?

Why not join us at Messy Church this coming Saturday to help us think about the Easter message through our usual mix of fun, faith and food.  They’ll be plenty of craft activities to help us explore the Easter story and we’d love you to stay and eat with us – fish fingers this week!

We hope to see you at St Catherine’s this Saturday (April 6th) at 3:30pm.
