For over 50 years, St. Birinus Calcot used to be it’s own parish on the western edge of Reading in Berkshire.
In October 2007 a new Parish was formed, combining areas from the former parishes of “St Birinus, Calcot” and “St Catherine of Siena, Tilehurst” to form “The Parish of Tilehurst : St. Catherine and Calcot : St. Birinus”
Some other parts of the former parish of St Birinus, Calcot were combined with the adjoining parishes of St.Matthew’s and St.Michael’s. See Our Parish – Boundary Changes for details on the historical changes to the Parish Boundary.

The St Birinus Church building is now owned by ‘The Gate’ church (formally Reading Community Church). However the building is currently being used by the Romanian Orthodox Church of St. Stylianos & St. Catherine.
