Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas child is a way of bringing some Christmas cheer to a poor, needy or suffering child.

The idea is to fill a shoe box (if you can’t get hold of one, we have a supply) with small gifts, (please read the leaflet carefully about what is acceptable) and add a donation of £5 or more towards transport costs.

We are an official collecting point for filled Shoeboxes.

We are also holding a special service to gather the filled Shoeboxes, when you can hear more about what happens to the filled boxes.

Date – Sunday 17th November

Time – 10.30 am with refreshments from 10.15 am and also after the service which will last about hour.

Place – St Catherine’s Church,      Wittenham Avenue, RG31 5LN.

Alternatively you can bring Shoeboxes to St Catherine’s Church or Cornwell 0-5 play group anytime before 17th November.

Harvest Festival & Bread Making Competition – Sun 29th Sept

Our Harvest Festival is Sunday 29th September at 4.30pm followed by a bring and share afternoon tea.

This year we have made it a bit different and are having a (non compulsory!) bread making competition! See the image below for more information.   The Brownies are going to be helping us, and we think it is going to be fun.

Tinned and dried offerings will be going to local charities CIRDIC and Readifood.

If you can’t make it to this, you’ll get a second chance, as Messy Church on Saturday 5th October is going to be all about Harvest (that’s 3.30 – 5.00 pm, with crafts, singing, talk and a meal too).

Everyone is welcome, please join us.

Messy Church : Jesus goes Backpacking – Saturday 6th July

This month’s Messy Church is exploring our Holiday Club theme of Backpacking !

At this year’s Holiday Club, we will be thinking about travelling around Europe backpacking.  Jesus also travelled all around the counties near where he lived – although we don’t think he had a rucksack !

At Messy Church this Saturday, through our usual fun mix of crafts, activities, songs & a story, we’ll be finding out some of what Jesus got up to and why he travelled so much.

Hope to see you on Saturday 6th July at 3:30pm.  Bring a friend !

P.S.  Our Holiday Club takes place in August.  Click here for more details.

New Service – 11am

We’re please to announce our new, informal service for the whole family, from Sunday 9th June at 11am.

As previously announced, the congregation from Cornwell Community Church are joining us to start this new service.

It’ll be the same time as Cornwell (11.00 am), with the same style of service (very informal), the same group of people (all ages, with several young people in our music group), the same great music and the same refreshments (fresh coffee and cakes).

As before we aim to make our service accessible for everyone and we are accepting and understanding of people with special needs.

We hope to see you there !
