We had always planned for our new venture ‘Cat’s Cartoon Club’ to take place in the Church Hall, but we can only meet on-line for now. If you didn’t manage to join us on-line for our latest edition of ‘Cat’s Cartoon Club’ – about Pixar’s Finding Nemo – you can watch it below …
An Electoral Roll is a list of those qualified to vote. As we approach our Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) it is a requirement to update our own church’s Electoral Roll in preparation for that meeting.
What is the Electoral Roll and why might you want to join it ? The cartoon below may help.
* The PCC of Tilehurst : St Catherine and Calcot : St Birinus regret that the above mentioned Electoral Rock is not available.
If you would like to be added to our Electoral Roll, please contact us.
This year’s World Day of Prayer (formerly the Women’s World Day of Prayer) is Friday March 5th 2021.
We are unable to meet together this year in our usual Tilehurst Churches Service. However we have a few of this years’ service booklets, written by the women of Vanuatu available. Please contact us if you’d like a copy.
We usually use the collection envelopes, contained inside the service booklet and as the WDP is heavily reliant on this money. If you wish to make a donation, again please contact us.
St Nicholas Church Earley plan to produce a shortened version of the service on their YouTube channel 2.00pm. on 5th March www.stnicolas.org.uk Click on WDP link it will also be available to download afterwards.
St Catherine’s Church has recently taken part in the A Rocha UK’s Eco Church Award Scheme. This happened because we want to demonstrate that the gospel is good news for God’s earth.
Through this scheme, members will become aware of many initiatives for the church community to be a part of. This will help us all (personally and as a wider community) to be even more environmentally conscious than we currently are.
As part of this, during Lent, we are inviting you to take the St Catherine’s Challenge!
If you already do the suggested action/ activity, pledge to go further. For instance, if you don’t, use a bamboo toothbrush, on 4th March you will be asked to pledge that you will change your plastic one for a bamboo one when it becomes unusable.
Also, we’re not advocating that on 25th April, you look at your food storage container cupboard and empty it of anything plastic! Please do pledge that when containers become unusable, replace with an alternative. The most earth friendly response towards plastic you already own, is re-use, re-use, re-use.
It is not expected that every action is completed on the given day – otherwise there is a danger that on 5th March, there won’t be a single bamboo toothbrush anywhere in Tilehurst!
Let me know if you have any queries about the challenge, please just ask !
We’re sorry for those of you who had problems with our ‘live’ broadcast on Facebook – they were out of our control and we’re relieved that you only missed the last few minutes.
If you didn’t manage to join us on-line for our ‘At Home’ Sunday Morning Service for 14th February, or wish to hear the end of our teams post service chat – with their Valentines stories, you can watch it below …
In the year that UK chairs COP26 and we start to respond to the challenge of reducing our carbon footprint, we have completed an extensive survey of our environmental credentials under the A Rocha UK Eco Church scheme, launched in 2016.
We finally submitted the survey earlier this week and we’re delighted to announce that we have qualified for a Bronze level award.
From now on, Rocha will offer us practical guidance on how to achieve Silver or even Gold award level to demonstrate how we are caring better for God’s earth. Look in the emailed Notices for weekly tips.
