Messy Church : Jesus goes Backpacking – Saturday 6th July

This month’s Messy Church is exploring our Holiday Club theme of Backpacking !

At this year’s Holiday Club, we will be thinking about travelling around Europe backpacking.  Jesus also travelled all around the counties near where he lived – although we don’t think he had a rucksack !

At Messy Church this Saturday, through our usual fun mix of crafts, activities, songs & a story, we’ll be finding out some of what Jesus got up to and why he travelled so much.

Hope to see you on Saturday 6th July at 3:30pm.  Bring a friend !

P.S.  Our Holiday Club takes place in August.  Click here for more details.

Messy Church – Saturday 4th May

It might be a Bank Holiday weekend – but that doesn’t stop Messy Church!

We seek to provide a space where the whole family can spend quality time together to share in Fun, Faith and Food, with craft activities, stories, songs and a shared meal together to finish.

We hope that you can join us at St Catherine’s this Saturday (May 4th) at 3:30pm.  Bring a friend !

Messy Church – Saturday 6th April : Easter

The Easter School holidays are about to start.  But what is Easter all about?

We know it’s more than just chocolate and bunnies, but why do Christians consider Easter far more important than Christmas?

Why not join us at Messy Church this coming Saturday to help us think about the Easter message through our usual mix of fun, faith and food.  They’ll be plenty of craft activities to help us explore the Easter story and we’d love you to stay and eat with us – fish fingers this week!

We hope to see you at St Catherine’s this Saturday (April 6th) at 3:30pm.

Messy Church – Saturday 2nd March : “Giving Up?”

Easter Eggs may have been in the shops for months, but we’re only just about to start Lent – the 40 days before Easter.

What’s Lent about and why am I supposed to be giving something up?  Come along to Messy Church on Saturday to find out!

Why not bring a friend to explore our theme of “Giving Up?” through our usual mix of Fun, Faith and Food.

We’d love to see you at St Catherine’s on Saturday from 3:30pm.

Messy Church – Saturday 2nd February

It’s time for Messy Church this coming Saturday afternoon.  As the shops fill with hearts and valentines, our theme this month is ‘Love God’.

As usual, this is a great chance for the whole family to spend time together with Craft Activities, Stories, Songs and a Hot Meal to finish.

So please join us at St Catherine’s on Saturday 2nd Feb at 3:30pm for Fun, Faith and Food.

Messy Church – Sat 5th January

It’s a new year, and for many an attempt to start something afresh.  At Messy Church this month we look at the story of Zacchaeus – a corrupt state official who started his life afresh after meeting Jesus.

Please join us on Saturday 5th Jan at 3:30pm for our usual mix of craft, activities, stories and songs, all with a hot meal to finish.

Messy Church : Saturday 1st December

As Advent approaches, we invite you to join us to #FollowTheStar this Christmas.

We start this coming Saturday (1st Dec) at Messy Church.    Through our usual mixture of Fun, Faith and Food we’ll be thinking about how God told us that Christmas was coming.

So please join us this Saturday – December 1st at 3:30pm for craft & puzzle activities, stories, songs and a hot meal to finish.

Messy Church : Sat 3rd November – Remembrance

As we approach the 100th anniversary of the Armistice, it is only natural that our theme for this Saturday’s Messy Church be Remembrance.

But the solemnity of the occasion doesn’t mean we can’t have a little fun as we explore our theme, producing poppies and thinking about peace.  This should be a great opportunity for all the family to spend time together exploring these themes.

Our hot meal is Jacket Potatoes and Beans, with Cake and Custard for dessert.

So please join us this Saturday – November 3rd at 3:30pm – for our usual mix of Fun, Faith and Food.

Messy Church – Saturday 6th October

As the autumn colours appear in the trees, it is time to celebrate Harvest.

While few of us do any real harvesting these days, it is still a good time to stop and give thanks for what we’ve got, and to help others who have less.

Accordingly we invite you to bring donations of food for the charity ‘Readifood’ – Reading’s food bank.

We’ll start our time together with lots of fun craft and activities linked to our Bible story – The feeding of the 5,000.

Then we’ll celebrate, singing songs, hearing the Bible story and praying together.  We’ll also hear how we can help others over Christmas through ‘Operation Shoebox’.

This should be a great opportunity for all the family to spend time exploring these themes together.

Please join us at St Catherine’s on Saturday 6th at 3:30pm.  Why not invite a friend.
