Sunday 9^th October will be Denis’ final service.  We will be joined by Cornwell Community Church in a special united service with communion.  It starts at 10.30am at St Catherine’s.

The service will be followed by a Parish Meal to say thank you to Denis for his 14 years of ministry in the Parish.

They say “All good things must come to an end” and after 14 years, Denis’s time with us as Vicar is indeed coming to an end as he moves onto pastures new.

Please come and join us at Messy Church on Saturday 1^st October to hear Denis reflect upon “Farewells”.  While there’ll be a hint of sadness in the air, we’ll still have our usual mixture of Fun, Faith and Food.

So please join at St Catherine’s on Saturday at 3:30 pm.  Bring a friend !

This event, led by the new Bishop of Oxford, aims to help us explore what it means to be God’s people today.   It will address such questions as:-

• How can we, as church gathered and church dispersed, respond to the world’s hunger for justice, relationship and love?
• Where do we see God at work?
• How do we pay attention to it?
• How can we support one another to respond?

The organisers’ vision is “to gather 200 people from across the Berkshire Archdeaconry who have:

• a passion for the gospel
• a longing to see change – in both world and church
• a commitment to struggle for it“

Messy Church is for the whole family, who can come and join in Fun, Faith and Food together !

This month, we look at the life of someone given an unusual job, to be a “Fisher of Kings”.

We’re looking at our Parish’s other Saint – St. Birinus, who was given this unusual job to do back nearly 1,400 years ago ! Who was he? What did he do? How is this relevant today?
